If you’ve been following me via Instagram or read my last post, you’d know that I’ve been training for a couple races for this fall. I’ll be running the Baltimore Marathon Relay on October 12th and the Run for Parks 10K on November 3rd. Like I said in my last post, I hate running but I love accomplishing goals. A goal of mine has been to run a marathon so hopefully by little gradual steps I can reach that goal within the next year or two.

One thing that has definitely helped during my training is loving your work out gear. Something about looking good makes you feel good, which makes me work out harder. I love Under Armour shirts that are Dri-Fit material because it soaks up my sweat instantly and dries it just as fast. I actually have the purple shirt shown above and love it because it’s not tight fitting and not loose. It’s the perfect fit.

Another major player in training for a race is to have the right shoes. I didn’t realize how important this was because I’ve been running for four years in Nikes that I would just pick up at Footlocker, whether it be Frees, Zooms, etc. I naturally stayed away from Asics/Brooks because come on, Nikes just look so much cooler. But when I got fitted at a running store for the Nike Pegasus running shoes, I instantly fell in love and found out what my feet have been missing out on. The shoes make me run for longer because it’s actually supporting my knees unlike the Nike Frees, or Nike Zoom’s that would instantly give in to my knees after 2-3 miles. I’m not saying anything bad about the Nike Free’s and for some they work great. But if you’re going to get into a serious running regime I highly recommend getting fitted. In some ways, comfort > beauty… I currently own the Pegasus 29 but Nike came out with a Pegasus 30 earlier this year. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colorblock aspect and for my next running shoe I will definitely get this orange/grey colorblocked one.

This post is turning more and more into a Wishlist Wednesday, but for my next item that I’d like to purchase is the Ipod Shuffle. At only $50, this is so much easier to carry and clip on that my Galaxy S4. It’s so hard to pick between all those pretty colors but I would definitley get the purple one :p

And last but not least, the most IMPORTANT thing for not only training but life in general is to drink WATER! this bkr Bottle shown in Mint is all the craze amongst celebrities and for good reason. It’s a glass bottle in a silicone sleeve that will protect your water from chemicals that can come out of plastic bottles. It’s a bit of a splurge but you gotta do whatever motivates you to keep drinking those 8 cups a day!
