Hi everyone!

As you can tell from these pictures, these were taken last week when we had that crazy, random, snow storm, and then suddenly had 70 degrees weather on the weekend. I hope that by posting these pictures up I won’t be jinxing this crazy weather…because I’m so ready for spring.

This jacket is one of my favorite Forever 21 purchases- on sale for $20. You can’t tell it’s from Forever21! It’s actually very sturdy and not made of the cheaper polyester material so it has been keeping me surprisingly warm this winter.

When all else fails…

awefawef

Happy Monday everyone! Who else is struggling from daylight savings time…

I wanted to share a quick post about my updated everyday beauty routine. I cherish every extra minute of sleep I can get in the morning so I really try to make my everyday routine quick and easy, and with the least bit of product.

Face: I use one layer of MUFE HD in 123– this is my favorite foundation of all time and you can read more about it here. Everytime I wear this foundation someone always asks me, “is that your natural skin?” It’s flawless and blends effortlessly. They also have a great range of shades and some that are yellow-toned which I find extremely helpful.

Eyes/Contour: Lorac Pro To Go is probably the best beauty product I’ve bought in the last two years (besides my Naked 1– nothing can compare to that). Whenever I need to travel this is all I bring because I can create so many looks with the matte + shimmer eyeshadows and it has a bronzer and blush. I actually prefer this as a travel friend as opposed to the Naked Basics because I think this has more dimension with the shades and has the contour kit. For an everyday look I just sweep the Shell color on the base and put some of the Cafe color on the outer corner. Fun fact: Lorac is Carol (the CEO) spelled backwards

Mascara/Liner: I cannot live without mascara and eyeliner. If I’m in a hurry I skip the shadows and just load up on the mascara and do a quick cat eye. It makes you look instantly polished. Pictured is Mac Zoom Lash & Tony Moly Liner

Lips: Every face looks more put together with a lip color. Chanel Rouge Allure in 91 Seduisante if I’m feeling great that morning or Revlon’s Kissable Lip Stain is always my go to.

Fragrance: I love my MJ Daisy. Enough said..

What are your everyday beauty essentials? I’d love to know- Leave a comment!

Pink Coat: Chic

IMG_5112

Happy Friday, Everyone!

My previous post highlighted this pastel pink jacket in a more street style way. Today I changed two items and it instantly made the look more chic, more me. I changed the burn out top for a white peplum top and my Chucks for a pair of stiletto heels. Style tip: I love recycling my outfits by changing just a few items because then I don’t have to put together another outfit!

Pink Coat: Casual

IMG_5057

The blogging curse strikes again. Everytime I blog about an item I want…somehow it magically ends up in my hands (mentioned here about Zara heels that were out of my size, and here about Nike Roshe Runs that were so hard to find). I blogged about a Wishlist Wednesday a few weeks back stating that I wanted a powder blue or pastel pink coat. I wrote this post with having no intentions to actually go out and buy a coat because I was hoping that spring would come sooner. I walked into the mall during my lunch break at work and casually decided to check out New York & Company for new work clothes (my favorite store for work clothes btw). Low and behold, this pink jacket from the Eva Mendez collection was on SALE from $160 to $45…I had to get it.

I wanted to style this jacket + bag in a different way from how I normally dress. I usually gravitate towards a more girly-er, chic, outfit but I wanted to give my Chucks some love and incorporate a more street style look. I love how the pink jacket is feminine, but because of the oversize it can still look great with a pair of Chucks. Personally it’s been hard for me to incorporate sporty fashion into my regular outfits. I either do all chic or all sporty, never mix the two. That has been a fashion trend that I love seeing on other bloggers and wanted to make an effort into incorporating into my future outfits. Stay tuned to see part 2 (and personally my favorite) look of how I styled this pink jacket!

#standwithme + Dogeared Jewelry

asdfasdfsadf

Hello everyone!

Today’s post is a little different because I wanted to share something a little more heartfelt with you guys. A friend asked me to take on the #standwithme challenge, which was to share a product that you love that is made in a fair & humane way. A lot of times, fashion people just buy and buy and buy without knowing where the product has come from- I certainly do. This request could not have come at a more perfect time because I had initially planned on doing a brand spotlight on one of my favorite brands, Dogeared, which after more research, is coincidentally a sustainable hand-crafted jewelry company!

So a little background into why I love Dogeared: they mastered the “dainty” jewelry on the DOT, their jewelry does not tarnish, and each piece has a short and sweet meaning that goes a long way. My favorites (pictured) are the Karma necklace because the circle design is so simple, and the Faith necklace. You can read more about Dogeared’s story here, and I encourage all of you to research more about your favorite brands and see what companies offer sustainable products!

Now, on to the event: #standwithme is a new documentary that centers around an amazing young girl from the San Francisco area who dared to dream she could use a lemonade stand to free 500 children from slavery. The documentary examines the realities of modern-day slavery, the role we play in it as consumers, and the importance of knowing the story behind what we buy. I was extremely touched after watching the trailer and will be attending the DC screening next week on March 5th 7:30 PM in Georgetown. For more information, check out the links below and I’d love if you attended!

LACMA

IMG_5120 (1)

Hi everyone!

The weather in D.C. has been warming up quite a bit and I’m so happy for that. Because of it, I wanted to share some photos from my California trip two weeks ago. It was my first time back since I was 8 years old and I was so happy to have gone with WP to meet his family and eat all the delicious food that everyone raves about (In-n-out, Boiling Crab, Yakitori, Tacos, all the Vietnamese food I could get my hands on- food blog post to come but to check out more of my food adventures from my trip, go to my instagram here :). The weather was such a refresher while we were there. Everyone else was bundled up in coats in 60 degree weather but to me it felt so WARM compared to D.C.

I picked up this half moto-suede jacket from H&M right before I left because I wanted a light jacket that was super versatile. I didn’t pack a lot of clothes/outfits because I only wanted to have one carry on for a week so this jacket was my lifesaver. It instantly made any simple black outfit look cool because of the mixed material + leather sleeves. My normal outfit in LA consisted of either a black dress + booties, or a white tee + leather leggings plus this jacket on top of it. It was so versatile and I can’t wait to wear it in spring!

I also recently got this gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff bag. I’ve been looking to get a bright red statement bag for a while but didn’t know if I wanted a small crossbody or a tote type of bag (not to mention we went for Chinese New Year’s and they are crazy about the color red). This bag was the perfect size to carry my DSLR, polaroid, sunglasses, wallet, and small necessities, while still maintaining it’s structured frame. You all know my obsession with structured bags 🙂

Hello everyone!

After a long weekend + being snowed in, I’ve developed a bit of cabin fever and cannot wait for this weather to go away. I was looking through my closet, hopeful of warmer things to wear and thought I would bring some pieces that have been collecting dust in my closet. With the exception of the trench coat, the turtleneck, white jeans, and my Chucks have sadly been worn probably less than 5 times each. Hopefully the weather warms up soon so that I can incorporate these white jeans more, they’re my favorite! -skinny, ankle zippers, and a cool design to make them unique.

Wishlist Wednesday: Powder Blue & Pastel Pink

awefawefHey everyone! Sorry for the absence in posts. I was away in sunny SoCal for a week for Chinese New Year’s and was stuffing my face with all the food I could get my hands on. Trip post + outfits coming soon 🙂

We all know that every season Zara comes out with that one staple piece every fashion blogger has to have. The assymetrical skort, the ankle strap heels, and now the Powder Blue Mohair Coat. This coat brings together two trends seamlessly: powder blue + oversized coats. This gorgeous color has been on fire the past winter season, during NYFW, and for the spring season to come. Having a chic, yet warm winter coat is a necessity, especially with all the cold weather we’ve been experiencing. Since you’re going to be all bundled up and hide all the layers, why not make your outer layer the most fashionable?

Another color that has been running fashion world is this gorgeous pastel pink color. I’ve never been much of a pink girl, let alone pastel pink (I’m more into fuschia), but I’m loving how chic and feminine this color is.

Disclaimer: I’d like to take credit for predicting this pastel frenzy. My first AIM screenname in 6th grade was babypinknblu…

Casual Saturdays

IMG_1242

I rarely have a weekend where I have no plans. I looked back on my 2013 calendar and saw that I only had 5 free weekends of completely nothing planned. I love staying busy but sometimes you just need that down time. I wore this casual outfit on Saturday (before the polar vortext, of course) and it contains the essentials of being comfy but cool. An oversized cardigan, a plain white t, cheetah print scarf, cool sunnies, even cooler bag, a pair of booties, and a pair of leather leggings.

Wishlist Wednesdays: Too Fit to Quit

sergrsegrse

Hello everyone!

Who said work out gear can’t be cute? If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know I’m a huge proponent for workout clothes and everything fitness in general. While I love buying cheap workout gear from Forever21 and Target, I strongly suggest in investing in Nike and Under Armour. Nike has seriously been stepping up their game in the past year or so, making really dynamic and cute clothes. I have a few Forever21 tanks/shorts that I’ve been wearing for about 1.5  years and the threading and quality of the material is undone (surprise surprise). My Under Armour shirts and leggings that I’ve had for 2 years are still in great condition and the dry-fit material is amazing. There is a reason why it’s so expensive!

My tips on what/how to purchase:

  1. Wait for the sales on Nike.com. Usually they have an additional 20% off sale items which makes your workout gear just as cheap as Forever21/Target prices
  2. Invest in good socks-SERIOUSLY! I didn’t know the power of good socks until I started to run/train for races. Make sure they are polyester so that your feet can breathe. I only buy socks with the back –lip so that my ankles won’t rub against the back of the shoe.
  3. Buy pieces that you can mix and match. I have about 4 black spandex shorts that I can mix and match with my neon dry-fit tops. I don’t want to look like a glow in the dark Starburst when I’m at the gym but I do want to have some fun so I mix and match neon with black.
