Feeling Blue

Lately I’ve been loving the two piece trend. You pick a top and a bottom that both speak for themselves and you leave the accessorizing to a minimum. For someone who doesn’t update their jewelry often, this is the perfect way to maximize your closet by buying pieces that can stand alone or create a great combination together.

I wanted the accent of this outfit to be the blue, chiffon shorts, so pairing it with a monochromatic look (with a pattern) was the perfect way to create a statement look without trying too hard.

You all know I love shoes. But what I love more than shoes is free shoes. I got these babies in the mail yesterday (for free) and I’m already wearing them today -30 degree mornings got nothing on these cute peep toes. I don’t usually consider myself a very lucky person (because everytime I buy a $10 lottery ticket I can’t even get back a dollar) but my friends will beg to differ with the amount of free shoes I’ve scored. I’ve won so many that sometimes I have problems on deciding which shoe I HAVE to get next, that I’ve bought shoes for my sister and WP as well (like this is an actual problem, ha!)

So I’ll let you in on my not-so-secret: DSW SHOE HOOKUP. Every Tuesday and Friday at 12 Noon EST, they give away 10 $50 dollar giftcards to 10 random winners. That’s 20 winners a week and it’s quite simple actually. DSW posts up a shoe style type of question at 12 and you have one hour to submit your answer, name, DSW rewards number, and wait for that lucky email saying that you are the winner. So make sure that you like their Facebook page and follow their Twitter for your chance to score!

  • Once you win a contest on Facebook you have to wait 6 months before you enter again-gotta share the love. But you can still enter in the Twitter contests!
  • You need to be a signed up DSW Rewards member. This is easy and pie and you actually get free $5 and $10 coupons in your mail periodically

#standwithme + Dogeared Jewelry

Hello everyone!

Today’s post is a little different because I wanted to share something a little more heartfelt with you guys. A friend asked me to take on the #standwithme challenge, which was to share a product that you love that is made in a fair & humane way. A lot of times, fashion people just buy and buy and buy without knowing where the product has come from- I certainly do. This request could not have come at a more perfect time because I had initially planned on doing a brand spotlight on one of my favorite brands, Dogeared, which after more research, is coincidentally a sustainable hand-crafted jewelry company!

So a little background into why I love Dogeared: they mastered the “dainty” jewelry on the DOT, their jewelry does not tarnish, and each piece has a short and sweet meaning that goes a long way. My favorites (pictured) are the Karma necklace because the circle design is so simple, and the Faith necklace. You can read more about Dogeared’s story here, and I encourage all of you to research more about your favorite brands and see what companies offer sustainable products!

Now, on to the event: #standwithme is a new documentary that centers around an amazing young girl from the San Francisco area who dared to dream she could use a lemonade stand to free 500 children from slavery. The documentary examines the realities of modern-day slavery, the role we play in it as consumers, and the importance of knowing the story behind what we buy. I was extremely touched after watching the trailer and will be attending the DC screening next week on March 5th 7:30 PM in Georgetown. For more information, check out the links below and I’d love if you attended!

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Parents!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I hope you all weren’t too affected by the snow storm. It’s almost like Mother Nature has had this vendetta against us little people for a few years now. I don’t remember the last snow day I had from school or work and snow always seems to fall on a weekend and not a weekday…

After posting up my first Holiday Gift Guide, a friend mentioned that she wanted to see a gift guide for dad’s. It’s so sad but sometimes we forget to give gifts and thanks to the ones who we owe the MOST to! This was a perfect idea because every year, my sister and I have trouble buying gifts for our parents. I bought two of the items below for my dad yesterday but that will remain a secret until December 25th! Hint: like father like daughter, we have the same interests 😉

Wine Decanter  |  Men’s Moccasins  |  Cheese Tray  |  Shower Squid

L’Occitane Hand Cream  | Ralph Lauren Sleepwear  |  Yankee Candle  |  Google Chromecast

Holiday Gift Guide: Bracelet Edition

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was filled with food, fun, a Indian-Catholic wedding, and a lot of friends. I can’t believe it’s already December and that means one thing: CHRISTMAS SHOPPING! I actually don’t get too overwhelmed with Christmas Shopping because I don’t have a large family that I need to buy gifts for. My shopping is pretty minimal and quick and easy.

It’s now that time of year to build your Secret Santa wishlist on Elfster and wish for things you would normally not buy yourself. But for some odd reason, every year, without fail I seem to have trouble building up a list of things I want. It’
s not because there is a lack of things I want (because trust me, that list could go on forever!), but I feel like building a Christmas wishlist takes a whole lot of time to really think about what you would want to receive as a gift! It’s something you want but something you wouldn’t necessarily splurge for yourself on an every-day basis.

While browsing Nordstrom, I came up with a list of some of my wish-list worthy bangles and bracelets. I’ve been craving some serious arm-swag lately and naturally everything ended up being black and gold! With the exception of the rose gold Givenchy bangle (in the right corner) which is probably my favorite item in the collage!

Skinny Bangles
Marc Jacobs  |  Marc Jacobs  |   Melinda Maria  |  Givenchy
Link Bracelets
Nadri  |  Ralph Lauren  |  Stella & Dot
Hinge Bangles
Betsey Johnson  |   Kate Spade (on sale!)  |  Michael Kors  |  Givenchy (want want want)

What’s on your current wishlist? Stay tuned for more holiday gift guides!
