2015- Camel Coat & Celine.

Happy 2015 everyone!

This outfit is very fitting for my first post of 2015 because it incorporates some new and some old pieces in my closet, which translate directly to how I am transitioning from 2014 to 2015. I’m bringing with me all the memories, great lessons, and life trials I learned from 2014, and applying them to my new ventures into 2015.

The old: everything except the camel coat.
The new: the camel coat.

I have been wearing my white knit sweater almost twice a week since I first got it in fall (it’s a closet staple), and I cut and distressed these black skinny jeans which I thrifted years ago. I’m not wearing many different or interesting pieces, and everything is very basic, and neutral. The camel coat just gives this look an uplift and pulls the entire look together to make it look chic and effortless. One thing I learned during 2014 was to definitely invest in your staple pieces, rather than buying all the items that are taking on current trends. My staple pieces are a good coat, a great bag, black skinny jeans, and sweaters. I can’t believe I haven’t invested in sweaters until last year!

2014 was definitely a year of ups and downs, and was probably the most enlightening year yet. I turned 24, I traveled to new places and had 4-5 big trips which was the most I have ever had in a year, I made great new friends, I became extremely close to others, I experienced losses, had many ups and downs, but most importantly I discovered more about myself and who I want to be.

Every year I make tangible resolutions like go to the gym 5 times a week, blog more, save more, spend less, etc. But I think for 2015 I want to live by a simple mantra I created that will transcend and apply to every day of my life: Be happy, be humble, be thankful.

This may seem so easy and habitual to some, but for a selfish person like me, it takes an extra step or two to remind myself daily to be happy for who I am, be humble to those around me, and be thankful for everything I have. I noticed these three things the most when I was traveling last year, which was such a blessing! So another side note resolution for 2015 is to: travel more. I feel like you learn more about yourself when you are not in your comfort zone and in new places that really challenge you to realize what you have to be thankful for.
